Dark Star is a Paul Thomson hybrid (Rixford × Niezel) and a longtime staple of premium dragon fruit. Its deep magenta flesh is loaded with antioxidants and carries a sweet, berry-and-grape flavor with a hint of lychee, averaging around 19 Brix. Well-pollinated fruit can reach 1 to 1.5 lb.
This is a rooted 4-foot plant ready to establish. Dark Star is self-sterile, so grow it alongside a compatible pollinator such as Sugar Dragon or Robles Red, or hand-pollinate, for reliable, larger fruit.
